Dog grooming in Columbus, OH should do more than make your dog look better for a day. At Lucky Bones Pet Resort, grooming is part of keeping dogs comfortable, clean, and easier to manage between visits. Whether your dog needs a bath, brush-out, nail care, coat maintenance, or a more complete appointment, our team helps owners throughout the Columbus area keep their dogs looking and feeling their best. You can also review our full services and current pricing before booking.

Some dogs need routine coat care to prevent tangles and shedding buildup. Others need regular bathing, nail trimming, and cleanup to stay fresh and comfortable at home. Our grooming appointments are designed to support the real needs of the dog in front of us, whether that means simple maintenance or more involved coat care for thicker, longer, or higher-maintenance coats.

Complete Grooming Services for Dogs of Different Sizes and Coat Types

Every dog has different grooming needs. Coat texture, breed, lifestyle, age, and overall condition all play a role in how often grooming should happen and what should be included during the appointment. That is why many pet owners choose a facility that can handle a range of coat types and service needs in one place.

Regular grooming can help with:

  • Removing loose hair and reducing shedding around the home
  • Keeping the coat cleaner between full appointments
  • Reducing tangles and matting in longer coats
  • Supporting cleaner skin and better comfort
  • Helping owners stay ahead of nail and hygiene needs

For owners managing a busy weekly schedule, it is also helpful to have one trusted place for dog daycare in Columbus, dog boarding in Columbus, and grooming support without needing multiple drop-offs around town.

Dog Grooming in Columbus, OH That Fits Real-Life Pet Care Needs

Some dogs need frequent appointments because their coats grow quickly or mat easily. Others may only need routine baths, nail trims, ear cleaning, or light maintenance to stay comfortable. Good grooming should match the dog, not force every appointment into the same routine.

Bathing and Coat Care

Bathing helps remove dirt, odor, and coat buildup that can make dogs uncomfortable. Coat care also helps owners stay ahead of loose hair, tangles, and day-to-day mess from active dogs who spend time outdoors or in social environments.

Why coat maintenance matters

Coat condition directly affects comfort. When hair becomes tangled, overly dense, or neglected for too long, dogs can end up dealing with pulling, trapped debris, excess shedding, or skin irritation that could have been reduced with regular care.

Nail Trimming and Routine Maintenance

Nail care is one of the most commonly delayed grooming needs, but it has a real impact on comfort and movement. Regular maintenance can also include small cleanup services that help dogs stay neater between larger appointments.

Common reasons owners schedule maintenance grooming

  • Nails are getting too long
  • The coat is starting to feel heavy or unkempt
  • The dog needs a fresh clean-up between full appointments
  • The owner wants to keep up with hygiene and comfort year-round

Why Owners Choose Lucky Bones for Grooming Appointments

Pet owners usually want more than a basic rinse-and-send-home experience. They want a team that handles dogs carefully, pays attention to coat condition, and offers a grooming routine that works with the rest of their pet care schedule. That is a big reason many Columbus-area families continue to choose Lucky Bones.

One Location for Multiple Care Needs

Convenience matters. Many clients appreciate being able to handle grooming while also planning for daycare, boarding, or training. If your dog benefits from more activity and social time during the week, pairing grooming with daycare can make scheduling easier. If you are preparing for travel, adding grooming before or after boarding can also help your dog come home clean and comfortable.

Support for Different Breeds and Coat Types

Dogs do not all groom the same way. Breed, coat length, shedding patterns, and temperament all affect what a good appointment looks like. Some owners need consistent upkeep for long or dense coats, while others just need a reliable local option for routine hygiene and appearance.

Common dog profiles that benefit from regular grooming

  • Long-haired breeds that tangle easily
  • Dogs with heavier seasonal shedding
  • Active dogs that get dirty quickly
  • Dogs that need nails maintained on a consistent schedule
  • Owners who want one trusted local provider for ongoing care

Dog Grooming in Columbus, OH for Dogs That Need More Than Occasional Baths

Many owners wait until the coat looks rough, the nails are clearly too long, or the dog starts smelling like it is overdue for care. The better approach is building a more regular grooming rhythm that fits the dog’s actual coat type and lifestyle. That helps avoid the stop-and-start cycle where grooming only happens once it becomes urgent.

Dogs that visit daycare regularly, spend time outdoors, or have fuller coats often benefit from more consistent grooming intervals. Owners who stay on top of grooming also tend to have an easier time managing shedding, cleanliness, and overall coat condition between appointments.

Before Booking a Grooming Appointment

Before scheduling, it helps to think about your dog’s coat condition, any sensitivities, and whether you want grooming as a standalone visit or combined with other care. If you have questions about the best next step, you can start with our FAQs, complete online registration, or contact us directly.

For general grooming guidance and coat-care basics, the American Kennel Club offers useful information for dog owners. General guidance is helpful, but the right grooming schedule still depends on your dog’s coat, routine, and condition.

Dog Grooming FAQs

How often should my dog be groomed?
That depends on breed, coat length, shedding, lifestyle, and coat condition. Some dogs do well with more frequent maintenance, while others may only need routine appointments spaced farther apart.
Can I combine grooming with daycare or boarding?
Yes. Many owners combine grooming with daycare or plan it around boarding for a more convenient schedule.
Do you groom dogs with different coat types and sizes?
Yes. Dogs vary widely in coat type, grooming needs, and temperament, which is why appointments should be based on the individual dog instead of a one-size-fits-all routine.
Where can I find rates and service details?
You can review current pricing and browse all available services before scheduling.
How do I get started?
You can contact us with questions or use the schedule appointment page to request your preferred time.

Leah

Hello, my name is Leah.

After graduating high school as a certified dental assistant, grooming kind of “fell into my lap”. I started at a grooming salon as a bather, and quickly after learning the ins and outs of bathing, the owner and still good friend, asked me if I wanted to learn how to groom. (Of course!) I did an apprenticeship under her and learned everything I know today. I started at Lucky bones in August of 2020, and it has taken my grooming career down its own path. My main focus is to build a relationship with not only your pets, but you. As a pet parent my self (to a schnauzer, and 2 frenchies), I understand the importance of creating and having a good connection for the pets best interest. I look forward to meeting you and your pet.

Amber

Hello, I’m Amber,

I’ve been working with animals since I was 15 years old, beginning at a small kennel. I worked at a local vet’s office for 14 years as a vet assistant and started the learning the process for grooming. I was grooming on my own for a year, then left to try other options (warehouses) but found that wasn’t for me.

I came to lucky bones in 2014;and have worked as a kennel assistant ,floor lead, receptionist, bather and grooming off & on for 8 years.

I like working with all animals and I do a lot of in-home pet care, grooming and training.

Crystal

Hi, my name is Crystal!

I began grooming in early 2024 taking a few courses in High School.  I was then trained by a Master Groomer, Michelle whom recently retired from Lucky Bones.   I have been with Lucky Bones since September of 2021 and I’m looking forward to this wonderful adventure ahead of me with all of these amazing fur babies.  I make sure to treat every single one of my client’s dogs like my own with the love and patience they need and require.  My favorite dogs to groom are double coated dogs with a lot of undercoat but I also have a lot of experience with all breeds and hair types.  I’m a very passionate animal lover with a chihuahua of my own.  I would love the opportunity to get to know you as a client and provide my services to your fur baby.
